We really need your help to find a baby name!

Names submitted so far...

Since June 10, 1997, we have received an amazing number of baby names from across the globe. The ones listed here are just a small sample of the submissions. We'll keep this page updated from time to time with a new list of names. The names listed here are not necessarily our favorites; they are just a random selection.

Listed below is the suggested baby name, any comments from the person who submitted the name and their location.

location: Berkeley, CA

babyname: Lydia Michelle
comments: When I was little I wasn't to crazy about Lydia, but now I like it alot because it is sort of a mysterious woman's name I think...it is starting to make a come back from the 19th century and most people now a days can pronounce it...I was always called Linda for some reason by the teachers. If I wasn;t a Lydia I would have been a Michelle, which I would have liked as a kid. Not a great reason but what do want from a gal named Lydia....of course you know about the Groucho Marx Song, Lydia the Tattooed Lady. :-) A boy? Michael James. Traditional. Don't go for any of those crazy names out there...remember what ever you chose he/she will be stuck with it. My sister in law had a dog named Dakota, the people next door had company whose kid was Dakota, when they called the kid the dog would come running instead of the kid.....

babyname: Sarah Jane__Daniel Patrick
comments: If I could name my daughters again, one of them would certainly be named Sarah Jane. Wanted to name a son Daniel Patrick but "hubby" won out with his choice. I also like the nick of Dan Pat. I thought of submitting something funny but I would never do that to an innocent little baby. Congrats, Rhioz
location: Gig Harbor, WA, USA

babyname: Jayla Marie

location: Bloomingdale, Ohio USA

babyname: Adison Jane
location: Sydney, Australia

babyname: Sydney Jordan
comments: Growing up with a name like mine, I've learned to appreciate the benefits --and challenges -- of having a unique name. Plus, I had a very dear friend named Sydney (last name Jordan) who was killed in a motorcycle accident several years back. Sydney Jordan Reynolds rolls off the tongue nicely, and it's unique without being hard for people to spell or pronounce. And if by any chance it's a boy, just switch the first and middle names. Monica Lynn Reynolds was a close second...
location: Seattle WA USA

babyname: Elizabeth Ann Reynolds(EAR!)
comments: First, it has great dignity (both Elizabeth I and II were/are great queens). Next, great nicknames, and such a variety: Liz, Beth, Betty, Betsy, Liza, Lisa, etc. Bound to be at least one you like. Ann is a little bland, I admit, but if you're not going to use a family name (Mom's maiden name? Her mother's maiden name?), then something short to offset the long first name. And the intials are cute without being distracting. Finally, neither is a name she will get teased about in the playground (Rain? Rumer? Scout? Dakota? No thank you), nor is it gender neutral, which can be so confusing for everyone involved. Another alternative would be to name her during the hurricane during which she is born, but I can't predict that. Sorry. Best wishes for an easy pregnancy and a healthy, happy child.
location: New York, New York

babyname: Catherine Elizabeth
comments: Both names, although old-fashioned, are timeless. Both names have several diminutions you can use (Cathy & Cat, or Liz & Betsy). These names are appropriate at any age. Imagine a 60-year-old "Tiffany"! It makes one shudder... The best advice I ever heard to test the name you choose is to throw open the back door and holler ", get in here to dinner RIGHT NOW!" You get an instant feel for how effective your choice is. Whatever you do, DON'T call your child by her middle name -- I did that and it's caused my kid a lot of confusion at school. Just in case the sonogram was hiding something important, another choice is Robert Wayne, for the above reasons. Good luck and congratulations!
location: Irving, Texas, USA

babyname: Emily Valentine
comments: They are two characters that I liked in a book I read recently
location: Rochelle IL USA

babyname: NINA (means also little child) LAUREN
comments: Nina is a powerful but still cute name for a little girl as wel as a woman. In Spain it means little girl... It's short and not too common. Besides, KC & Nina sounds well. Her initials will be NL and that means The Netherlands. So she'll have a very international name. Good luck and please mail me a picture !!!
location: Heemstede, The Netherlands

babyname: Enzika
comments: This is an African name of a student I had in my class. I've been teaching awhile and this name was just very unique. The kids call her Ziki.
location: Los Angeles

babyname: Jennifer Céline
comments: An American name; you can't pronounce most Dutch names.
location: Hilversum, Noord-Holland, The Netherlands

babyname: Hanna Sabine`
comments: just because I named my daughter so. Not Hannah, but Hanna will be three years old next fifth of July. Good luck with your search for a name. It looks so easy, but it takes time.
location: Landsmeer, Netherlands

babyname: Jennifer Marie or Jodi Lynne
comments: I have just always liked those names, they were the two I narrowed down to when I was pregnant 13 years ago. I ended up w/a boy though :)..He's the love of my life, he is my life. :) Congratulations and good luck.

babyname: Savannah Rose
comments: I think it is a beautiful name!
location: Kent, CT 06757 USA

babyname: Naomi Anne
comments: Naomi is a simple, biblical and beautiful name. The problem was finding a middle name. I thought a simple middle name was best and I like spelling Anne the way I did rather than Ann. More elegant, classic.

comments: It's a pretty name and not very common in the US.
location: Portland, Oregon USA

babyname: Cleo Miranda
comments: I think it sounds good, is feminine, and is unusual enough so that your daughter would feel unique without feeling she had a strange name.
location: Short Hills, NJ, USA

babyname: Jennifer Lynn
comments: These are just two names that I like.
location: Dallas, Texas, USA

babyname: Emily Paige
comments: This is the name I would have used if I'd had a girl (and no, there won't be anymore). I love old fashioned names (Emily) and Paige seems to go with it well. Good Luck to you.
location: Sykesville, MD USA

babyname: Exene Olivia
comments: Exene is just a cool name...and Olivia is cool too..put them together and they are ultra cool. They are unique but yet won't embarrass her when she is older. Who wants a boring old name like Jennifer anyway? Look at me, my name is Brenna...I've only ever met one other person with my name..kinda cool!!!
location: Denver, CO USA

babyname: Eryn Marie
comments: Don't really have any specific reason why. It sounded good at the time, and I like first names with no vowels. ;) (How Gen-X of me, eh?)
location: Milwaukie, OR, USA

babyname: Hannah Marie
comments: Our twin daughter's name: the nurses would not keep calling her twin "a".
location: Cobourg, Ontario, Canada

babyname: Stephanie Grace
comments: Our twin daughter's name...you guessed it, the nurses would not call her twin "b" any longer! ;) If we win, donate the $20.00 to your favourite neonatal unit. Both of our twins are alive today because of a terrific unit and both are in excellent health at 2 years 4 months. Good luck with your new baby!!! Oh, ps - we read through several baby name books etc..The first names are names we just both liked the second names are family traditions...we each read books drew up lists, .... , :) it got involved. Hannah was 2lb 9oz at birth (her head was half the size of my hand). Stephanie weighed in a a hefty 3lb 14 oz. Not superprisingly, Stephanie is about 42 lb today!! and Hannah is 35lb. Finally, neat web site!
location: Cobourg, Ontario, Canada

babyname: kallisti
comments: it means to the prettiest one.
location: brooklyn

babyname: Jazzy BlueSky
comments: We have 5 children. Two boys and three girls. Names so far have been all the J's you can think of and there is this song by a group called Mango Groove we really fancied called "Eat a Mango" which mention Jassy Blueskies. In the end we were not brave enough to call our youngest Jazzy B but ended up calling her Jasmine (as in the flower). Now she is called Jazz Mazz, Jasmine B, Jamaz, Jamaz Janusi etc.
location: Bournemouth, Dorset, England

babyname: Sophie Paige
comments: This is the name that I wanted to name our third child, who was born 9 months ago...I fought tooth and nail with my husband for nine months, but he just wouldn't agree...(We settled on Autumn Paige)...but I had my heart set on it, so I thought that I would pass it on....by the way, our cat's name is "Bobcat". Best of luck with your baby....being a parent is the most wonderful thing in the world...I can't wait to see what name you choose
location: Clay, KY USA

babyname: Casey Dakota
comments: I chose this name because Casey sounds playful, friendly & cheerful and YET like the name of someone who would STILL be taken seriously and be respected. Added to that, Dakota whispers "adventure", such as the adventure of traveling (city's name). The city of Dakota puts me in mind of Early pioneer days, Indians, the Black Hills, a prospector's excitement at having found gold..... Yep. The whole name, to me, sounds very pleasant and friendly, adventurous, colorful, and like someone who'd HAVE to grow up just BEING SOMEBODY who'd stand out above-average! (Whatever name you choose, congratulations! May you all live long and prosper (sorry if that sounds like a "Star Trek" line!) Then AGAIN, you could give her MY name...Bree Z. Day....I'm called Bree, or Bree Zee, or Briana.
location: Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. USA
